About this project
EchoBridge is FLOWNET TECH's flagship accessibility R&D initiative — a real-time, two-way translation layer between sign language and spoken language.
The system combines computer vision for sign recognition, speech-to-text for voice input, and a thoughtfully designed dual-screen interface that lets deaf and hearing users converse naturally without an interpreter in the room.
EchoBridge was awarded the Red Dot Design Award 2025 in the Communication Technology category, recognizing both its technical achievement and its commitment to inclusive design.
Key features
Two-Way Translation
Sign language is rendered to text in real time, while spoken speech is transcribed for the deaf participant — both directions, simultaneously.
Dual-Screen Interface
A conversation-first UI that shows both participants their counterpart's input, designed for clarity under stress.
Open Source Core
The translation core is released under a permissive license to encourage community contribution and broader language coverage.
Non-Profit Distribution
Deployed at no cost to qualifying community organizations, schools, and healthcare partners.
